Trying to find the right engineering toolscan be expensive and time consuming. Generally they are not cheap items and because they have to be very secific, like with fine cutting tools or measuring tools, you are paying for the quality.

Some engineering tools are also expensive because they are made from expensive materials, like diamond tools for an obvious example.

In the precision category, items like micrometers, lathe tools, and vernier callipers all have to be more than millimetre accurate in some circumstances. This means the very good ones need to be extremely well made.

The term engineering tools is very broad though, and it also includes things such as lifting magnets, cup wheels, drill chucks, a collet set and many more.

Until recently it was hard to find these kind of tools online. But with more tooling websites appearing it is getting easier. I bought one tool online recently which was a boring head set.
